Daily Whale and Dolphin Report:

Here are the species we watched closely today:

12 Blue Whales  (many many more spouts all around us today)

22 Humpback Whale  (a few more seen with binoculars)

1000 Common Dolphins

Many packs of juvenile California sea lions pestering the whales

Extreme summer conditions out on the grounds today with calm seas and balmy air temperatures.  And I thought YESTERDAY was the ultimate.  Again today we were surrounded by blue whales and humpback whale spouts as far as the eye could see.  But today we got "mugged" by several groups of extremely friendly and talented performing humpback whales.  (We use the term "mugged" when the whales are so close they sometime touch the boat. We are dead stopped and the whales come over and perform completely by their own choice).  And today was amazing.  I'll have the photos online by tomorrow afternoon.  Wow, it doesn't get any better than this..anywhere, on any boat.
